Not everyone who’s in an abusive relationship knows they are in one. Here is a simple test to find out if you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship. When you take this test, be totally honest with yourself, not answering from your heart, but with your head. If you lie in answering these questions, you are only lying to yourself.
- Does your boyfriend make you feel like you can't do anything right and that without him you are worthless?
- Does your boyfriend pressure or force you to go further sexually then you want to go?
- Does your boyfriend tell you how what you can and can’t wear or how much make-up to wear?
- Does your boyfriend tell you who you can and can’t hang out with?
- Does your boyfriend have mood swings where one minute he is yelling at you, and the next minute he's says he can't live without you?
- Is your boyfriend extremely jealous or possessive? Does he constantly check up on you? Does he accuse you of flirting or cheating on him?
- Does your boyfriend try to keep you away from your family or friends?
- Does your boyfriend hurt you in any way? (This can include yelling, hitting, pushing, punching, kicking, putting you down, calling you names, etc.)
- Does your boyfriend threaten to hurt you, himself, your friends, or your family?
If you said yes to any of these questions, you are in an abusive relationship and need to get out of it now.
